Mac Cosmetics

M.A.C is a makeup line that is owned by Estee Lauder. M.A.C makeup headquarters is in New York City. The company that manufactures this product is Estee Lauder. M.A.C manufacturers are located in Toronto, Canada. Since M.A.C is owned by Estee Lauder, the distribution center is in New York. M.A.C retail stores are located world wide. I investigated M.A.C’s sustainability mission, but it turned out to be that they don’t have one. Even though it does not have a mission, it is involved with sustainability initiatives. An example of a sustainability mission M.A.C has is that they have a recycling program.

Lipstick is one product sold by M.A.C. There is many items used to make lipstick. Some of these products are pigments, oils, waxes, emollients, and tallow. Pigments come from many different things. Some come from minerals, others come from rocks or plants and some are even hand made. Oils come from plants and waxes. Wax comes from plants. Emollients come from oil or grease and tallow comes from animal fat like pig lard. These materials are sustainable because they are formed from Earth’s natural processes, which means that they will never end unless we take too much in which case the processes might not be able to keep up.

M.A.C products don’t produce as much trash as other brands because M.A.C has a recycling program called Back to M.A.C recycling program. Even though people throw their cosmetic bottles into the trash, M.A.C still tries to reduce the amount of trash people make by throwing their cosmetic containers away.
