Carbon Footprint Class of 2015

We are the 2015 class of Carbon Footprint at Renassiance Academy. In this class we have learned about the life cycle of many products that we encounter and use everyday. This life cycle includes the extraction of resources, the production and distribution of the product, and finally its disposal. In addition to these things, we learned about sustainability and have become aware of better ways of producing our materials in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

Human processes are speeding up the rate at which carbon dioxide is being emitted into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas (which also includes methane and nitrous oxide) which traps the sun's heat in the atmosphere. These greenhouse gases are causing an increase in our global temperature and with this increase, we are facing glacial melt, sea level rise, and more extreme weather due to the changing temperature of the oceans. As a result, we are facing one of the earth's largest mass extinctions (the polar bear, the quiver tree, the northatlantic cod, and corals) because of global warming.

This website shows the several products we chose to research. We hope that through our research we all become more conscious consumers.
